Metal drawing is a technological process in which an external force acts on one end of the drawn metal to pull the metal blank out of a die hole smaller than the cross section of the blank to obtain workpieces of corresponding shapes and sizes. In the manufacturing industry, most pipe operations need to go through a drawing process. I. Application of Drawing Process
Common drawing processes include metal wire and thin pipe, including metal drawing processes for some special-shaped materials. Including round, hexagonal, square sections, special-shaped sections, and slightly thicker pipes with various section sizes.
Second, the type of drawing process
(1) Back tension drawing: it is a method of pulling the blank in the opposite direction after the die during drawing. This method greatly reduces the wear of the drawing die, and at the same time reduces the phenomenon that the drawn wire or profile is broken.
(2) Roller die drawing: it is a process that combines drawing and rolling together, i.e. pass rollers replace traditional dies, turning most sliding friction into rolling friction, greatly reducing friction resistance, realizing high-speed drawing and mainly used for forming complex special-shaped steel pipes.
(3) lubrication drawing: during drawing, drawing oil with high viscosity is brought into the die by means of the viscosity of the moving blank and drawing oil to form a layer of lubrication film between the blank and the drawing die, thus reducing the friction effect.
(4) Die-less drawing: it is a process method that does not use traditional drawing dies but relies on the property that the resistance of metal deformation changes with temperature, and it uses the heating and cooling of cold and heat sources. It solves the problem of multiple drawing passes in traditional drawing, but the uniformity is poor and the quality is different.
Three, drawing process flow
The metal drawing process is carried out on a metal sheet drawing machine. In metal drawing or drawing, metal sheet or blank is drawn through a die. The technological process of drawing metal steel pipe is as follows: pointed, degreased and derusted, phosphated, soaked with drawing oil, drawn, cut off, etc.

(1) According to the different raw materials in pipe drawing, the formula of drawing oil suitable for use will differ. Therefore, we need to select the appropriate kinds of oil products according to the actual materials when selecting them.
(2) Different drawing processes have different performance requirements for drawing oil. Therefore, drawing oil with appropriate performance needs to be selected according to actual processes (such as drawing speed, reduction ratio, workpiece surface finish, etc.);
(3) The formulation of different types of drawing oil is not the same, and the performance in actual process is different, so the applicable workpieces are also different.  Therefore, attention should be paid to selecting according to suggestions when selecting.
